Counsel

The thinking layer.

A senior read on the engineering decisions that have to be right the first time. Technical diligence, architecture review, fractional-CTO engagements — scoped in days, not quarters.

When we're called

Six familiar situations.

  • 01

A founding team needs a second senior read on an architecture call before it gets locked in.

  • 02

An operator has inherited a system they did not design and needs a clear-eyed assessment.

  • 03

A board is debating a build-vs-buy decision with eight figures on the table.

  • 04

A CTO is preparing for a major migration and wants the strategy stress-tested.

  • 05

A diligence process needs an independent technical opinion before close.

  • 06

A founder needs an interim hand on the engineering tiller while they hire.

How engagements work

Three stages, one principal.

  1. 01

    Discovery

A short, paid scoping conversation. Two hours, one document. No commitment beyond that meeting; if the fit is wrong on either side, the work ends there.

  2. 02

    Engagement

An agreed scope — typically two to six weeks for a decision memo, longer for an embedded fractional CTO. Senior on every file. No junior layer beneath.

  3. 03

    Transition

Handover documentation written for the team that owns the system afterward. We stay reachable for one quarter beyond delivery, no clock.

What we decline

Status as much in the no.

  • 01

We do not staff long pole engineering teams.

  • 02

We do not run vendor selection bake-offs.

  • 03

We do not produce slideware for board meetings.

  • 04

We do not engage where a non-technical broker sits between us and the decision-maker.

Frequently asked

Direct answers.

How quickly can you start?
Discovery conversations typically scheduled within five business days. A formal engagement begins one to three weeks later, depending on the brief.
Do you sign NDAs?
Yes, mutual NDAs are standard before discovery. We do not sign one-way confidentiality agreements that extend in perpetuity.
What does a decision memo look like?
Two to twelve pages of plain prose. The decision, the alternatives considered, the trade-offs named, the recommendation. No appendices for their own sake.
What is the price range?
Quoted per engagement after discovery. We do not publish rates and we do not haggle on scope; the work either fits the brief or it does not.
Do you work in person or remotely?
Remote by default; on-site for moments that require it. Travel within India is straightforward, internationally on agreement.
